LITERACY DAY!!

“Calling all storytellers and great writers.  We want to invite you to a day filled with fun, imagination, and  creativity!”  Next week, Friday, March 16th, we will be celebrating an all-school Literacy Day!  Besides some fun and creative lessons provided by your homeroom teachers, there will be performances for each grade to enjoy!

At 9:00 am, in the school cafeteria, Mark Hellerstein, will provide laughs, audience participation, and storytelling, through lovable puppets for grades K-4.  At 11:00 am in the gym, Birgitta DePree will entertain her audience with her performance of “Elephant” for grades 5-8.  Ms. DePree brings to life unforgettable characters, remarkable pachyderms and surprising events.  “Elephant” has been performed throughout Colorado and was featured at the International Children’s Festival of Canada.  Joan Lind with “Spellbinders”, will be back to share some more of her stories as well.  We will end the day with DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) time in the gym from 2:15-2:45 pm.  Memorable treats will be provided to each class for participating.

We are asking that each student bring $3.00, as a participation fee, to give to the teacher, by Wednesday, March 14th. Some of the funds collected will be donated to our Reading Program here at school.  Parents are welcome to join us!  Please contact Mrs. Kramer if you have any questions @ kkramer@stannescatholic.com
