You would never know it to look at either of these youthful appearing first grade teachers at the Shrine of St. Anne School in Arvada, but Kathy Sigl and Maureen Kraus have been educators for over forty years each.  Moreover, Maureen Kraus and Kathy Sigl have been at their present location for nearly that whole time briskly staying apace with professional development and all the latest technology.

The principal Patricia Hershwitzky noted that it is highly unusual today for anyone to remain in teaching that long, let alone much of it in Catholic education, and with such loyalty to the same school.

“However, what truly makes Kathy and Maureen so special is how well they collaborate and team teach first grade, propelling dozens of students each year to significantly advance in skills and knowledge.  Everyone raves about the first grade classrooms,” she added.

Even the alumni teachers remember being taught by one or the other when they attended school.

Yet, both Mrs. Kraus and Mrs. Sigl, while proud of their accomplishments, remain modest in their own self assessment, claiming that they receive more than they give, and that they simply do their best while having fun doing it.

As the 2016-2017 school year approaches, both say they will return and look forward to making history as a team with the most years invested in educating our Catholic youth.
